Ed.D.

Walden’s Ed.D. (Doctor of Education) program is designed to improve your scholarship and research skills so you can improve student learning at the classroom and school level. Our learning format combines online courses and face-to-face residencies. This allows you to collaborate with education leaders around the world without compromising your personal and professional commitments. Walden’s Ed.D. integrates standards developed by the Interstate School Leaders Licensure Consortium and National Staff Development Council.

Ed.D. Residency
If you select our Ed.D. program, you’ll be expected to fulfill one residency requirement. This requirement includes face-to-face seminars, classes, and individual advising sessions with faculty, staff, and other doctoral students, in which you will

  • Enhance your research, writing, and critical-thinking skills
  • Network with the Walden community
  • Build a strong support group

Residencies are held throughout the year at convenient locations across the United States, typically for three days. You are encouraged to attend the residency in your first two semesters. You must complete the residency requirement by the end of your third semester.

“The Ed.D. program at Walden has afforded me numerous professional opportunities—organizing sessions for teachers and administrators relative to teacher leadership, collaborating with colleagues to create innovative programs, and managing time effectively. As a result of the program, I have gained practical strategies that will help me to develop and implement goals for transforming a school into a community of academic integrity, collegiality, and extraordinary caring for teacher and student learning.”
